apparently today is “call in gay day”, take off work without pay and go volunteer, its designed to show the size and impact of the LGBT community. Organizers are urging people to “call in gay” skip work and volunteer at human rights organizations.

this is stupid (not you, pragmatism). the idea that we get pissed off over elections that we decide to call it in and act like immature teenagers does absolutely nothing for the cause. OHHHHHHH, he called in gay today, so we better give him some gay marriage!

right.

this is not new. we’ve been facing these same electoral defeats in every election since 2004. that doesn’t make it easier to deal with, but neither does taking the day off because you’re gay.

keep fighting people, but do it in a way that actually has an impact. your employer is most likely not the enemy.
